The Sony’s UP-DR80 is making waves with is surprisingly low cost in the class that produces 8x10, 8x12 borderless prints. With a street price sometimes seen as low as $1,395, it is competing with major rivals priced at $2,495 and $2,695. The new Sony also offers Pro Matte and luster finishes while most other produce glossy prints only, and it provides the different finishes and also 4x8, 5x8 and 6x8 sizes with no supplies or mechanical change.

The model uses media that renders a fine raster texture which is comparable to traditional photo paper and paper is spooled inward on the roll to minimize contamination from dust and fingerprints. It also is compact for light-weight portability.

Superb print quality
Produces photo-quality prints by incorporating Sony's dye sublimation technelogy, which coats each print with a protective layer that's resistant to light, heat, water, humidity and fingerprints. The laminating helps prolong the life of prints.

Print sizes
8x10, 8x10.2, 8x12, 4x8, 5x8 and 6x8. The variety of sizes is made possible by the UP-DR80's multi-cut ability which allows multiple print sizes from the same print pack.

Choice of finish
Three surface finishes are selectable from the printer driver: glossy, luster and ProMatte finish.

Compact size
Its compact body is just 12 1/2" x 8 1/2"x16 3/4 " (WxHxD), making it ideal for working in confined spaces and transporting from studio to event.

User-friendly front operation
The front-loading operation makes it easy to replace paper and ribbon, allowing the UP-DR80 printer to be used in tight spaces or on a work cart.

High-speed printing
Produces 8"x10" prints glossy in approx. 65 seconds.

Easy color adjustment
Offers easy color adjustment via its printer driver property. This incorporates a preview image that can be used to confirm and adjust images.

Color look up table
Two types of color look-up tables are available to reproduce suitable colors for different applications such as outdoor, indoor, portrait or location.

Gray balance adjustment
The gray balance adjustment function on the UP-DR80 printer allows selection of the color that most closely matches the operator's requirements and provides the most suitable tonal range for their application.
