Nikon D40X Kit w/18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Lens.

Only a few months after the launch of the highly successful Nikon D40, the more powerful D40x arrived to provide higher resolution with a 10.2 megapixel sensor (from 6.1 mp), a slightly wider ISO band(now 100-1600) and bursts to 3 frames per second (from 2.5 fps). These added features are making the already hot D40 series excellent choices for home use or as an entry step to higher levels.

Features:
• Image Quality. Made possible by the 10.2 effective megapixel and exclusive Nikon image-processing engine which assure stunning sharpness and vivid color. The CCD sensor delivers images that are great for making enlargements of 24x36 inches and beyond. The high resolution also provides room for creative cropping.
• Smallest SLR Ever. The beautifully styled D40 is more convenient, easier to use and all packed in a camera that weighs just over 16 ounces.
• Fast Startup. Instant Shutter. A 0.18 sec. startup. split-second shutter response and rapid-action shooting make it easy to freeze special moments instantly.
• Up to 3 Frames per Second. Captures high-quality action sequences of children in sporting activities such as soccer, baseball and anything else.
• 2.5-Inch Monitor. Features 230,000-dot color and 170 degree wide angle viewing playback images. Easy to use and enables image preview at up to 19 times magnification.
• 3 New Display Options. Display in Classic, Graphic or Wallpaper, each of which has carefully designed color schemes help make changing camera settings easier than ever.
• Built-in Speedlight. Includes i-TTL automatic flash control with the precision needed to achieve better automatic flash balance and deliver outstanding images. Great in darkened conditions, as well as adding sparkle for fill flash in outdoor situations for enhanced twilight shots.
• 8 Shooting Modes. Automatic modes include: Auto Flash-OFF, Portrait, Landscape, Child, Sports, Close Up and Night Portrait; each of which adjusts automatically for optimal results for everyday shooting situations. Each mode considers lighting conditions and possibilities, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, hue, tone, sharpening and more to make creative photography as simple as rotating the mode dial.
• In-Camera Editing. Retouch Menu features include Nikon D-Lighting, red-eye correction, image trim, image overlay, monochrome (black and white, sepia and cyanotype) along with skylight, warm tone and color balance filter effects. The in-camera editing provides greater creative freedom without the need for a computer.
• Advanced Help Menu. Features Assist Images which help you select the appropriate settings for many camera features by showing an example image typical of that setting. Just press the HELP button beside the LCD monitor to see a context-sensitive Help page.
• Color Matrix Metering. 3D Color Matrix Metering II evaluates each scene for brightness, color, contrast, size and position of shadows and highlights, selected focus area and camera-to-subject distance, comparing that information against an onboard database of more than 30,000 actual photographic scenes. Instantly delivers precise exposures for each scene, even in challenging lighting conditions.
• 3-Area Autofocus. Inherited from more advanced Nikon digital SLR cameras, the system has refined algorithms to deliver fast, efficient autofocus.
• Image Optimization. Settings that let the photographer adjust color, contrast and sharpening as well as other image settings, according to the type of scene or output desired. Settings include: normal, softer, vivid, more vivid, portrait, custom and black and white and each are automatically adjusted.
• Long-lasting Battery Charge. The EN-EL9 rechargeable battery included will allow for shooting up to 520 images per charge.
