This 12.3 megapixel digital SLR is a midrange model and yet it includes many features of the new Nikon D3, also new and the company's most advanced camera ever. The D300 features Nikon's Expeed System processing, 51-point AF sensor, a Live View on a bright 3-inch VGA LCD with AF support (unique to Nikon), scene recognition to enhance the accuracy of focus, exposure, and white balance, Picture Control for real-time image corrections, scene recognition to improve exposure accuracy, HDMI video output, a 14-bit A/D conversion, sensitivity up to ISO 6400 with boost, a dual-pronged dust reduction system. Shoots six fps, has an almost instantaneous 13 ms start-up, and just 45ms shutter lag.

It is an exceptional product aimed at semi-professionals and advanced amateurs.
