YOUR BALLPLAYERS
NOW ON TV NEWS!
We can now turn still shots from your sports league into a DVD video from “Sports
Center” news. After a snazzy graphic introduction on this video, our announcer
talks about a local youngster who is playing hard and who we “hope to
see at the next level” while your still shots are running. It makes a
great clip that we think a lot of parents will want and it also makes another
sale that you probably won’t mind having. Click
here to see a demonstration.

WE’RE OFF TO SEE
THE WIZARD
Because of the wonderful things he does . . . those wireless camera triggering
systems, known as Pocket Wizards, really do wonders in unleashing you from constraints.
For instance, you could remotely fire a camera mounted on an airplane wing.
Or use TTL flash for a wedding. Or work a fashion shoot with manual power control.
The little Wizard radio systems enable untethered triggering between all components
of the photographic system, no matter how simple or complex. Call and we’ll
help make your selection: 888-398-9934.
NORITSU ANNOUNCES
MOST VERSATILE
DRY MINILAB PRINTER YET
The Noritsu D1005 will soon be introduced as the most flexible dry minilab
printer yet, boasting both the widest size range and the highest speeds. Like
earlier Noritsu “dry” models, it replaces the chemical processes
with stunning quality ink prints. Sizes run up to 12x36 inches, it delivers
950 4x6 prints per hour, produces 3,800 prints before media change, will print
on one side or both and uses either roll paper or sheets. Prints are to be durable
and archival. The system also supports automatic order sorting. Price and shipping
date are not yet known. We will post details as soon as we get them.
WANT TO BECOME
YOUR OWN LAB?
The new way. . .the easiest and most economical way. . . to bring your lab
work in house. . .is via a “dry process” printer that uses inks
instead of chemicals. The genre is fast and durable enough to have taken over
print processing at two of the country’s largest chain stores. They got
rid of the smell, the mess and most of the cost and machinery knowledge needed.
Noritsu currently has three choices: the D703, the D502 and and the M300.
The D703 prints 4x6s at a rate of 650 per hour, at a cost of about 15 cents
each and 8x10s at 250 per hour at a cost of approx. 54 cents each. Print sizes
from rolls are 3.5x5, 6x4, 8x10, 10x12 or on sheets 8x10 and 8.25x11.5. And
the quality is superb.
Their D502 adds the ability to print duplex and, with a mini-bindery add-on,
will kick out Photobooks as quickly as a dedicated bindery.
The M300 provides is an earlier and lower cost model that prints 325 per hr.
at 3.5"x5"; 265 per hr. at 4"x6"; 95 per hr. at 8"x10".
Now being replaced by the newer models, it is at a remarkably low cost. Click
here to read more.
LET MEDIA PAY
FOR PART OF NORITSU COST
The Noritsu M300 is now available for just $9,995, compared to its regular
price of $15,000, if purchased it along with a three-year media purchase agreement.
The M300 print quality is superb and it prints to rolls or sheets at speeds
of 325 per hr. for 3.5x5s, 265 per hr. at 4x6 or 95 per hr. at 8x10. It also
prints 5x7, 43x8, 8x12, 10x12 and 10x36. Offer ends 3/1/10. To
read more click here. Or to discuss call us at 888-398-9934.
ARE YOU
EXCITED YET?
First, please pardon us while we blush. For the past two months, we have written
here that we were attaching a photo of one of our new ESPN posters at the bottom
of the ENews because we thought they were cool. But both times we failed to
do so. Now, having heard that persistence pays off, we are hoping that our one
little photo will finally make an appearance down there. Please give a glance
downward. If it did, we hope it was worth the wait. And we hope that if you
photograph sports and your competition doesn’t have anything as sharp
as this poster you will click here to order some.
BOGEN NO LONGER
CAN WE SAY “MANFROTTO”?
The company established in the 1950s as Bogen Photo is Manfrotto Distribution
as of Jan. 1, 2010, upgraded to an international network in the U.S., France,
Germany, Italy, Japan and the U.K. They still import, distribute and service
accessory products in the photographic, video, broadcast and lighting sectors,
and it says here we will still get really good service.
Desktop Darkroom carries multiple Manfrotto tripods, monopod and tripod heads.
Stop in or give us a call.
THE ULTIMATE EVENT
FOR EVERYTHING PHOTO
That’s what the organizers call the big, huge, colossal annual PMA show,
which this year is in southern California: Pre-show Feb. 19-20, trade show,
Feb. 21-23. It definitely is the largest of them all and generally one of the
best. Click here for their
site.
THANKS AGAIN
Another of our great two-day workshops on sports, schools and dance was held
Feb. 1-2 and again we felt as though we ended up with a lot of new friends,
as well as enthusiasm from the field. Thanks muchly. We love these meets. We
intentionally keep the group size small and, thus, have to decline people before
show dates. If you want to make sure you get a heads up for the next one (July),
please drop us an Email that says “Let me know” to jluter@desktopdarkroom.com
