The Sony UPC-R20L mini-kiosk delivers multiple print sizes on one media roll, reads CD/DVD and features wireless 'shoot-to-print', ability, all of which combine to make it a powerful all-in-one solution. Its low-cost and high-return enable those who have been locked out of the cost-prohibitive market, to offer instant digital photo printing services.

It features a touch-sensitive 10.4" LCD screen, and prints sizes 3.5x5, 4x6, 5x7 and 6x8. Print speeds range from 8 sec. per 3.5x5 to 15 sec. for a 6x8 and the print method is dye-sublimation. 4x6 and 5x7 prints can be provided with a cut. When the printer is not in operation, the kiosk's LCD screen can be used to display promotional images and new print offerings such as new seasonal borders, etc.

The UPC-R20 prints in either glossy or ProMatte finishes from using the same media roll. In fact, it is the only instant digital print kiosk available that can print the ProMatte finish, which gives digital photos a professional look.

It is front-loading and has an auto-loading mechanism for easy replacement of paper roll and ribbon. This addition to the SnapLab line does not replace the UPC-R10L

The newest SnapLab was designed to provide maximum profitability while requiring minimal space. It takes advantage of speedy, inexpensive digital printing without the investment of traditional terminal-plus-printer systems. The unit's space saving design enables several systems to be placed in the same area and when combined with other services such as ATM machines and self-checkout lines, the kiosks helps create a high-traffic in-store destination that for an additional revenue stream.

The addition of the wireless 'shoot-to-print' capability make it a perfect fit for event photographers. By using a wireless device server such as the Silex USB adapter, photographers with cameras capable of FTP auto file transfers, can send photos directly to the SnapLab to automatically print. The images are transferred via wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired (10/100 Base T) connection and stored in a hot folder on the kiosk. This wireless feature dramatically improves and streamlines the workflow at event venues by allowing for one-man operation.

After photos are stored in the hot folder, photographers can choose to either erase images after printing or to save them. With this option, photographers can re-print saved images on demand as well as add additional features such as borders, logos, or customers names at a later date.

Users also have the option of offering customers premium prints, with built-in templates to create split images, for example. Adding printed or semi-transparent borders is an easy process, as well as the choice of producing sepia or black-and-white prints. Photographers can easily overlay pre-loaded images, event logos and design frames without having to use a PC. Border designs also can be created and saved. Created borders can then be exported with SnapLab utility software which is included.

Data can also be exported directly to a CompactFlash card or imported to a CompactFlash card by using the expansion slot on the front of the printer. A unique feature of the new kiosk is the ability to print either in Sony's ProMatte or a glossy finish, using the same print pack. The different finishes are produced using Sonyıs proprietary lamination technology, eliminating the need to change paper to achieve each look.

The system accepts most popular digital media and memory cards, as well as USB devices, and CD/DVD discs (read-only; CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW). It is equipped with a security cable slot and can be conveniently tethered to deter theft. The kiosk's printer firmware can be updated via memory card, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM and from PC via a USB connection. Updates can be easily performed from the administration menu and firmware updates are available at: www.sony.net/productsdp-driver.
